I am an experienced primary school teacher and tutor available to teach children from 5 to 11 years old in English and Maths.

I can offer private lessons in Maths and English in my home in a relaxed and calm environment.
Confidence building is my speciality!

I am also available for online lessons via Zoom if preferred.

Tutoring Experience

I qualified as a primary school teacher in 1987. I have taught many children from Reception through to Year 6, including teaching children with special needs. I now work as a supply teacher and home tutor.
I have many years experience of helping children who are struggling with Maths and English in the classroom. I particularly love helping children to gain confidence in themselves and to learn to approach their work with the belief,
'I really can do it'.

Tutoring Approach

I believe children need to work at their own pace, working to their own personal ability.

If a child is struggling he or she needs lots of praise and encouragement and with time, confidence will grow and learning can really begin.

If a parent wants their child 'stretched' we will work towards a given goal at a realistic pace so that their child is confident at each stage before moving forward.

I adapt all lessons according to the individual needs of the child whilst also listening to what the parent hopes their child will achieve. We work together in a relaxed but stimulating and happy environment towards goals that are realistic and achievable.

I strive to make each lesson an enjoyable and successful experience so my students look forward to every session they attend.
