Maths and Physics Lessons in Coombe (Kingston)

As a qualified Physics teacher and graduate of Cambridge and Imperial College, I have a depth of understanding of my subjects and various curricula. Teaching is something that I have engaged in for many years - from tutoring at the age of 16 to teaching full time at secondary school. Currently, I am running my own engineering company and would love to keep teaching alongside this. I hold a PhD and a BEng in Engineering from Imperial College, an MPhil in Engineering from the University of Cambridge and a PGCE in Secondary Physics from UCL Institute of Education.

Tutoring Experience

I taught Physics at an outstanding science and mathematics specialist school in London. During that time I taught years 7 to 13, and was STEM Coordinator, organising events such as STEM Week and mentoring aspiring scientists and engineers. I also mentored students applying to Oxford and Cambridge. I have lots of experience tutoring science and mathematics, which I did before and during my teaching.

Tutoring Approach

Having tutored, volunteered at a Saturday supplementary school, and taught Physics full time, I have always had a love of teaching. Both my parents are teachers, so it is something that comes very naturally. This was always alongside my career in engineering. I believe teachers with their own industry and life experience make for the best role models. I have also been a STEM Ambassador and in my last school I was STEM Coordinator. I feel especially strongly about encouraging more girls into the field.

I love making science (especially Physics) applicable to the real world, and making students understand its relevance. My strengths have been pointed out to me as having enthusiasm for my subject, building excellent relationships with students and providing an environment, in which they can learn with confidence.
