I am a qualified physics teacher with experience teaching at both GCSE and A-level, in physics and engineering. My teaching philosophy focuses on using evidence-based strategies to improve learning and to help students reach their full potential. I believe that all students can become proficient in physics, with the right support and encouragement, and time putting in practice.
I completed my PGCE, specialising in physics, in 2019, and gained qualified teacher status in 2020. I have three years of experience teaching in the classroom, teaching students between the ages of 11 and 19, and another three years working as a tutor and teaching extracurricular STEM classes prior to that. I have prepared students for exams, and also for extracurricular physics challenges, such as the British physics Olympiad.
The key to learning is practice. My sessions will focus on this, making sure students have the ability to work through a range of different problems with me and get immediate feedback on both their content knowledge and problem-solving methodologies. Through repeated practice and feedback students will gain mastery and confidence in physics. Additionally, alongside practice I will also weave in history and current events relating to the topic being taught, to help students gain a broader understanding of physics, and prepare them for future study.
