I'm a Clinical Psychologist with a passion for supporting people to realise their academic potential. I am a positive, active tutor and enjoy sharing my enthusiasm for learning. Having completed a doctorate in psychology and achieved a distinction in my Masters of Science in Psychology and Mental Health I have first hand experience of high level academic requirements. I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology at University of Exeter and have many years of experience tutoring students from undergraduate to postgraduate level.

Tutoring Experience

I have tutored a number of undergraduate and postgraduate students, all of which were able to move up into the higher grade boundary and meet university entrance requirements.

I particularly enjoy tutoring university level psychology which includes: critical analysis of the literature, essay planning and structure, research methods, lecture content, and dissertations. I have supported many students to improve their grade boundaries and achieve their goals and can readily adapt my style to your learning needs. I also tutor students at postgraduate level to support high level academic work including: critical appraisal skills, constructing an argument and impeccable APA 7th referencing to achieve distinction grades.

Tutoring Approach

I believe tutoring is a team effort. It is important to identify how the tutee learns, for example visually, and then we can work together to create sessions around this learning style. This ensures that it is not only relevant to the tutee but also successful. I believe tutoring is about facilitating learning. I draw on my knowledge of academic literature surrounding learning to teach new techniques to the tutee so that they can then progress independently.
