I hold a BA in Liberal Arts with a 2:1, majoring in Politics, and am currently completing my MA in Conflict, Development and Peacebuilding. I achieved three A grades at A-level in Politics, Geography, and Psychology. My academic journey has fostered a deep passion for politics, and I'm particularly eager to support A-level students in this subject. Having recently navigated the A-level system myself and continued to advanced study, I understand both the challenges students face and the knowledge needed to excel.
While I'm new to formal tutoring, I have some foundational experience working with young people. I helped my cousin prepare for her GCSEs, which gave me insight into how to break down complex topics and adapt my explanations to different learning styles. I also volunteered with Beavers when I was younger, which developed my skills in engaging with children and communicating clearly in an educational setting.
Though my formal teaching experience is limited, my recent academic journey means I have a fresh understanding of effective study techniques and exam preparation strategies. I'm enthusiastic about developing my tutoring skills further and am committed to creating a supportive learning environment for students.
My teaching approach centers on building student confidence and fostering a positive learning environment. I believe that academic success is deeply connected to self-belief - when students feel confident in their abilities, they're more willing to engage with challenging material and persevere through difficulties.
I would focus on creating sessions that are both productive and enjoyable, ensuring students leave feeling positive about their progress. This means celebrating small victories, breaking down complex concepts into manageable steps, and adapting my teaching style to match each student's learning preferences. I'd also encourage questions and create a safe space where students feel comfortable making mistakes, as this is where real learning happens.
My goal is not just to improve grades, but to help students develop genuine confidence in their analytical and critical thinking skills. When students believe in themselves, they're more likely to take intellectual risks, engage deeply with the subject matter, and ultimately achieve their academic goals.
