I am a qualified music teacher and A-level examiner with a PhD in music from University of Nottingham. I have over ten years' experience teaching music and I can support all aspects of the A-level theory component, including set works.
I have taught A-level music (including AQA, Edexcel and OCR syllabuses) and GCSE music (Edexcel) for 10 years, and have worked as an examiner for the Edexcel A2 listening paper. Just prior to the Covid outbreak, I took a sabbatical to complete a doctorate, then worked briefly as a catch-up tutor, supporting students one-to-one on a range of A-levels, including the Fine Art extended essay and the EPQ.
One-to-one tutoring works very well for students who struggle with the strictures of the formal classroom, and allows students to learn at their pace and in a way that works for them. My approach is open, non-judgemental and aims to remove obstacles to curiosity and the desire to know more.
