Understanding, committed and passionate about teaching. Being aware of how much of an impact a teacher has on a pupil's life, I strive to promote self-confidence and a positive learning environment. I am able to customise each lesson in order to suit the child's current and developing needs in order to maximise our time together each week.
I found that many children feel the harsh impact of the ongoing pandemic on their studies, but I can assure you that with the right support vast progress can be made!
I am currently in 3rd year studying Medicine at the University of Glasgow.
Since starting university, I have had plenty of experience in working with younger pupils: helping out in Biology and Maths classes where I sat down with children who had a hard time grasping a concept and helping them achieve better results than expected. I also conducted multiple workshops during the school holidays involving drop in sessions for exam preparation (Nat 5 and above). With my mother being a maths teacher, I had the opportunity to work with some of her younger pupils, giving me a first hand experience in the field. I also have my own students who were interested in following up on the activities I conducted at school and have one to one sessions as opposed to working in a larger class.
I consider that the environment created when working with a student is going to dictate their entire progress when it comes to their academic pursuits. I believe they have to feel comfortable and at ease, while still aware of the importance of every single session. I like implementing study techniques that worked for me when I was in their shoes, as well as educational and interactive games for younger children. Exams, prelims and tests usually become a huge stress factor in the life of a student, but by preparing ahead and showing perseverance the unattainable can be achieved. Personally, I treat each individual differently according to their academic needs. By assessing their current knowledge, I am able to construct a tailored plan as well as building up a strong foundation for the coming years. Having recently been in their shoes, I am very much aware of the curriculum and the way the course is taught.
