I am passionate about mathematics and am an enthusiastic maths teacher. Before becoming a teacher I worked for over 20 years for a large multinational information technology company and appreciate how important maths can be in a career. This was an invaluable experience and helps me in my approach to teaching. I understand that the key to success is confidence, patience and practice. I have Enhanced DBS Status.
I currently teach and tutor pupils aged 11 to 18 across all ability ranges. I have a proven track record of success in GCSE to both Higher and Foundation levels and also A-Level Maths (including Further Maths). Building confidence and maintaining focus is key to a student's exam success.
My approach to tutoring is tailored to a student's individual needs. Preparation for Exams involves identifying specific problem areas, producing individualised learning targets, strengthening these identified areas and practicing exam technique. Additional resources (e.g. revision tasks, past papers, etc.) will be provided to students.
If the focus is less exam orientated, but students wish to develop their skills and confidence in maths, then I can help students in parallel with their studies at school - addressing any problem areas should they appear, providing support with independent study or perhaps providing more challenging activities.
