My name is Adrian and I am a graduate of St Mary's University College, where I graduated from with a degree in Education Studies, Ba. I have worked and tutored across a wide spectrum of education settings and work with a variety of ages and abilities. I am a well organised, patient and reliable individual, with a good understanding of the current education system and National Curriculum. I have a huge interest in education and the field of teaching, learning and pedagogy and enjoy being able to be involved in the education of young people.
In my own leisure time I am a keen sportsman and currently organise and play for a private volleyball club, play football and attend the gym. I am also keenly interested in literature, art, film and music and enjoy creating my own artwork and reading.
I have been working in and around education for the past 9 years, which has placed me in contact with young people, in an educational setting, on a daily basis. During my working day I interact with a large number of different students who are studying a variety of subjects.
This has given me a good grounding in lesson planning, delivery and assessment, as well as becoming very comfortable in delivering lessons and learning activities to young people. Working in this setting has provided me with an excellent opportunity to develop my one-to-one teaching and prepare exclusive learning activities for individuals.
My approach to tutoring is one of guided discovery, employing methods of inquiry and to make learning fun and interesting, whilst also giving a sense of ownership to the learner. I believe it is important for a student to have input from their teacher/tutor visually, audibly and kinaesthetically, as this ensures that the learner is given every stimulus and opportunity to learn.
I would seek to use the materials and learning activities that were set from school, including homework and learning activities, and seek to bolster this with activities that would stem from the originally set work, helping the learner to develop a positive attitude to furthering their learning and actively seeking to enquire further about a subject, developing an interest in not only the content and subject, but in learning itself.
