I am a medical doctor and biomedical scientist who completed their higher studies in the United Kingdom. I graduated with first class honours/distinction from the University of Nottingham School of Medicine and the University of Sheffield (Biomedical Science). I have a keen passion in medical education, sciences and mathematics and love helping people overcome their difficulties and anxiety when it comes to these perhaps daunting subjects. Coming from an extremely multicultural background and having lived and travelled to many countries, I love meeting people of all backgrounds and adapting my teaching style to each and every one of them to not only be a tutor, but a mentor and friend!
I have 7+ years experience in teaching the sciences (biology, physics, chemistry) and mathematics at both a GCSE and/or A-Level standard, having worked with various students for preparation in mock and/or final exams.
In terms of medicine specifically, I have experience in both the UK medical curriculum (GMC standards) as well as the US curriculum, having sat and passed both the UK final medical exams as well as the USMLE exams for entrance into US medical residency training. My teaching ranges from both pre-clinical to clinical content.
My philosophy is to first delve deep into the student's learning style, their strengths, areas of improvement and main goals in their academic and/or medical journey to make sure our time is as productive and fulfilling for both of us. I also get to know the student on an individual level to better understand their aspirations, personality and hobbies so I can make sure the session is as engaging and fun as possible.
My style of teaching is adaptive to students who possess visual, auditory, kinaesthetic/tactile, reading/writing, logical and naturalistic learning styles, to name a few. In terms of medicine, I believe understanding the basic pathophysiology of diseases and working your way up to clinical medicine is the best way to learn as a medical student and future doctor.
My ultimate goal is for the student to gain trust in me so we can develop a productive professional relationship to ultimately achieve their end goal, whether it be acing an exam, improving school performance, or learning something new.
