I am currently studying medicine at the University of Cambridge. I have completed pre-clinical studies and achieved a first class. At school, I achieved A*s in Biology, Chemistry, Maths, and Further Maths at A level. I find tutoring very rewarding and I am willing to invest much time and effort into creating the best resources for my students.
I have tutored students for GCSE Chemistry and Maths and also for the UK medical entrance exams and interviews. I have previously been a mentor for GCSE Chemistry.
I always want my students to enjoy their learning and to feel they have gotten the most out of their tutoring sessions. Before each session, I take the time to plan what we are going to cover and prepare the necessary resources. At the start of each session I like to briefly recap what was covered in the previous session for the purpose of consolidation. We will then discuss the new topic(s) to be covered with the use of practice questions to test understanding. Finally, we will review the session's work and decide on what to cover in the next session based on the student's desires and areas that I feel need improvement.
I take a very learner-centred approach. I encourage my students to tell me which topics they struggle with the most and also how they learn best. I believe it is important to set a few practice questions each week as 'homework' to consolidate their learning and identify any areas that they are still finding difficult.
