Hello, I’m Aafiya, a dedicated and passionate tutor with a strong background in both Education and the Sciences. I am a graduate in Applied Biomedical Science, and I have been tutoring privately since 2011. Over the past decade, I’ve had the pleasure of working with students from KS2 through to GCSE, primarily in Science and Mathematics, helping them build both academic knowledge and confidence.

As my career has progressed, I’ve had the opportunity to expand my teaching expertise to A Level, delivering high-quality instruction in Biology, Chemistry, and NCuK Physics.

I’ve taught at two respected private fifth/sixth forms in Edgbaston and have worked closely with the major examining boards, including OCR, AQA, and Pearson Edexcel, as well as with regulatory bodies such as Ofqual and JCQ. Additionally, I have supported Birmingham City and Solihull Councils with their EHCP referrals, ensuring tailored educational support for students with special needs.

Tutoring Experience

I am an experienced tutor and teacher with over 13 years of tutoring experience, specialising predominantly in Mathematics and the Sciences from KS2 to A level. Throughout my career, I have been passionate about helping students unlock their potential and achieve academic success.

Over the past 6 years, I’ve had the privilege of working as a teacher at two prestigious private schools, where I’ve taught A-Level Biology, Chemistry, and NCUK Physics to both local and international students.

My experience working across different levels of education has given me a deep understanding of how to support students in their academic journeys, ensuring they feel confident and prepared for their exams.

I am well-versed in the specifications of the major exam boards, including AQA, Edexcel, and OCR, and I adapt my teaching approach to meet the specific requirements of each. My goal is to provide tailored support to every student, helping them grasp complex concepts and develop the skills they need to succeed.

Tutoring Approach

My tutoring approach is centered around creating a personalised learning plan tailored to each student’s unique needs and abilities. I begin with an initial assessment, combined with their school year plan or exam board specifications, to design a week-by-week plan that ensures consistent progress. I believe strongly in the importance of regular homework tasks to consolidate learning, and I incorporate plenty of question and exam practice, as this is the best way for students to apply their knowledge effectively. Understanding that every student learns differently, I take a versatile approach, using interactive and engaging lessons with a variety of materials to make complex topics easier to grasp. I also provide regular assessments with thorough feedback, helping students visualise their progress and stay motivated as they work towards their academic goals.
