Personal Description:
Hi, I’m Tanya - a native speaker of standard Russian and a qualified UK teacher with over 10 years’ experience teaching in-person and online.
I offer tailored support for primary, secondary, GCSE, university, and adult learners.
Lessons focus on fluency, confidence, and real-life use.
Teaching Experience:
I teach Russian at KS2, KS3, KS4, GCSE, and university level, as well as to children and adults.
I also offer business and casual Russian.
Teaching Approach:
My lessons combine a communicative approach with targeted grammar practice to help you speak confidently and accurately. I’ll support your pronunciation and grammar in every session, while we explore real-life situations to build your conversational skills.
For GCSE students, I follow the Edexcel curriculum and focus on all key skills: speaking through dialogues and role-plays, writing emails and letters, listening to authentic recordings, describing pictures, and expanding vocabulary while brushing up grammar. Lessons are designed to prepare you thoroughly for exams and real-world communication.
University learners will tackle advanced grammar and complex topics using authentic materials, including live journals and articles. We’ll discuss modern aspects of life in Russia and current views on language development to deepen your understanding and critical thinking.
I also tailor lessons for business or casual Russian, depending on your goals. You’ll have access to my extensive digital library, including textbooks, grammar workbooks, audio files, and reading materials for pleasure - all designed to support your progress between lessons.

She is a pleasant and competent teacher, very good approach to the student and the teaching of the material, my daughter really enjoys every lesson with her. We needed support as it was our first year at school in England and we got it. Tests are being done and results are going up.

She always plans thoroughly for our lessons and tailored each lesson to my own individual needs. She went above and beyond to ensure my success, and I left our tutoring sessions feeling much more confident about my Russian abilities and felt well prepared for my exam, which would not have been the case without Tanya's help! From Andrew (/5): I have been extremely happy with Tanya who has undertaken online maths tutoring for my son. We had the maths sessions during his year 8 at the start of which he was struggling with certain areas and by the end of the year he had improved so much he has been moved into the top set.
Tanya puts in great thought and preparation for each lesson and has a great teaching manner able to keep a student's focus even if they are not feeling in the mood. She has built a great relationship with me and my son by showing she really cares about results but that learning can be enjoyable.
One impressive aspects of the lessons has been how Tanya can switch between sources or methods if one approach is clearly now working. She is clearly a very experienced teacher and we will continue to use her excellent value service.

From Sharon (/5): I was impressed with Tanya when I first spoke with her but decided to go with another tutor closer to home. However, sadly that didn't work out so I went back to Tanya and booked a lesson. I really should have trusted y instincts and gone with her from the start.

My daughter has written: Tanya is really good at engaging with questions about day-to-day life to help improve conversation skills and also helps build up new and interesting vocabulary. She goes over everything multiple times to help consolidate new information which I find really helpful, and always asks if I have any questions. Generally a super supportive and informative teacher :)

From knowing just one or two Russian words, Tania has taken her, nurtured her and built up her confidence and vocabulary, to be able to understand native Russian speakers and react to their conversations. She can now communicate and is already at the point of being able to translate Russian to English.

She uses a combination of visual aids, books, a laptop and physical games to keep our daughter entertained and educated simultaneously allowing her to learn whist having fun.
We highly recommend Tania as a tutor and will be remaining with her as long as she is able to teach.

From Matthew (/5): I have been tutored by Tania since late January and have found her to be very knowledgeable, thorough, firendly and also suitably flexible when required. She has picked up on my needs well (particularly to concentrate on better grammar after I came to her having learned a reasonable amount of vocabulary but almost no grammar). Tania has also pitched my workload to the correct amounts, picking up on my detrermination to learn as much as possible quickly and has supplied extra homework accordingly. I feel that I have made good progress and Tanias fees are very reasonable in comparrison to many other private Tutors I have seen (and even some big language organisations). Overall I am very satisfied and would reccommend Tania.
