Personal Description:
Background:
“The object of education is to prepare the young to educate themselves throughout their lives”.
Hi! My name is Shai and this is what I truly believe.
I have been a private tutor for the last 11 years specializing in Mathematics, all Sciences, English, Engineering and entrance exams for 8–18-year-old mentees.
I was born and raised in London UK and have recently moved to Perth, and whilst I am continuing online lessons with my mentees in the UK, I am keen to start empowering the next generation of talent in Australia!
I have familiarized myself with the Australian school system and its very similar to the UK (if not a little less complex when it comes to the syllabus) and therefore, I am confident of success!
Please do look at my reviews from current & previous mentees, which can be found on First Tutors UK under my name.
So what are you waiting for…
Why I do this:
• I believe that education and knowledge equals power and choice. This is why I continue to study myself!
• Passion and motivation are crucial, and I will help mentees discover their passion and the importance of education. I also enjoy helping with advice on careers, mentoring and growth
• I thoroughly enjoy teaching using first principles to embed learnings and applied knowledge, both through private tutoring and my other involvements (see next section)
• I was in the top 10% of all Mechanical Engineers in Sheffield, and I can help pass this mentality and motivation down to my mentees
For the parents:
• Detailed feedback is always provided to parents, with progress charts/reports for mentees to continue their structured development
• Parents can speak to me any time on any day, for specific needs, concerns and updates
My hobbies:
• I love family time
• I enjoy reading and learning about new technologies and advancements in our world
• I love cycling, tennis and football (being from the UK!)

• All A level mentees (i.e. college or pre-University) mentees scored A or A* between 2018 – 2023
• These mentees have gone on to succeed at their chosen Universities and degrees, and I regularly keep in touch to mentor them through the early stages of their careers
Tutoring Approach:
My unique approach:
• I see this as a mutual relationship, and refer to students as mentees
• All of us are different – therefore I always tailor my approach depending on each mentee’s abilities. I have fun and direct methods that mentees enjoy and are guaranteed to bring success
• The new format exams can be daunting for mentees – I am trained in handling these transitions and have adapted my teaching style to suit – mentees will quickly become confident with the new format
• I specialize in helping with exam technique, time management and confidence – all are crucial for success in exams and the real world
• I provide mentees the understanding of the subject with real-world examples, to help cement the knowledge into their minds
• Provide resources for teaching and adapt to using to the explicit material provided by schools. I also provide regular homework and grade all work, including explained solutions
• I have been there and done it before. All my recent experiences and learning’s help me relate more closely to mentees and put them on the right path
• I will not give up on anyone, no matter how hard the challenge!

Mr is a good teacher and having being tutored by him for 6 months now, I think it is fair to say that he knows how to teach students and make them understand the content. For Science, he uses the mind map technique, which helps condense concepts into key information. This technique helps for me because it makes me understand the information in chunks, rather than one massive page of notes. For Maths he uses the writing notes technique. Also, for homework he gives you exam questions on the topic you have covered with him. This is helpful because not only are you practising the questions on the topic which you have done but you are also practising the way they will ask you in the exam.
In conclusion, Mr is a good tuition teacher and I would recommend anyone to be tutored by him. He will surely change your grade into an A*(9).

My son is quite happy with Mr ’s way of teaching – explains a topic, gives homework on that & test his knowledge out by way of test. Changes his teaching methods to the students’ needs. We have a free hand to customise what we want to cover.
Many thanks for your kind words and comments on your experience with me so far. Aditya has been a good student to teach over the last few months and I hope that we can continue the strong development and understanding he has demonstrated over this time.
He is a student with a lot of potential so I am sure that he will be rewarded if he maintains his work ethic and concentration at all times.
As ever, if you feel that I can improve in any way then please do not hesitate to let me know. I am always learning myself and trying to adapt to different students, and would be delighted to help out in anyway I can.
Thanks again and I look forward to the months ahead!
Best Wishes

Thank you very much for your detailed feedback on your experience so far.
Your son is a bright young man who has a lot of potential and I feel that it is my job as his tutor, to get the best out of him so that he is in the best possible position to succeed further down his life. He is a pleasure to teach and very mature for his age.
As I always mention, if you do have any concerns or see how I could make improvements at any stage, please do let me know. I am always learning new methods and techniques myself so I would welcome any suggestions. I am glad that you are satisfied with my tutoring and I shall keep it up!
Shailan
He is reliable and very organised. Both children are finding his lessons very helpful and Shailan makes every effort to tailor to their individual needs.
I would recommend Shailan as a tutor.
Thank you very much for your feedback and comments. I am glad that both of your children are enjoying and benefitting from my guidance.
They are both a great pleasure to teach, very well disciplined and inquisitive. I look forward to teaching them for their upcoming exams and playing a small part in setting them up well for their future.
Many thanks
Shailan
My daughter says he knows his stuff and uses a common sense approach. He is good at setting work as well.
I hope that she does benefit from my advice and mentoring!
Best Wishes,
Shailan
Having had Shailan for a couple of sessions, I have learnt new ways of making my learning much more simple and easier. For example, 'working backwards' when tackling a difficult question. Shailan uses modern applications to apply his teaching to his students which is very beneficial, as it has helped me to understand what is actually being taught. This, I feel, makes me intrigued to want to learn more about Physics beyond A-Level. More-so, his help and guidance has made me feel more confident about my upcoming exams.
Shailan heavily focuses on exam-type questions, by setting homework from past papers. This has helped me very much as I am getting confident with the type of standard my answers should be. In-turn, it has allowed me to become familiar with the type of questions that are going to be thrown at me, so when I do sit my exam paper, I do not get overly worried and nervous.
For some constructive feedback for Shailan; I would suggest that he would go over very briefly about the content that was covered in the previous session. (When starting a new session). This is to allow myself and other students to re-jog their memory and to go over any misunderstandings that there may haven been.
Above all, Shailan is a very good tutor and I would recommend anyone to choose him as your tutor. Not only is Shailan a good tutor but also a friend!

Many thanks for your feedback regarding my tutoring approach and constructive comments. I am glad that you are finding it effective and studying well.
Your feedback is very thorough and it makes me happy to hear that my techniques and methods are working well on a student. As I mention time and time again in our lessons, confidence and self-belief is one of the most important traits to exam success - so keep it up!
Thanks for the recommendation.
Best wishes,
Shailan
